Steve Golden
Steve Golden became interested in period American furniture around the age of fifteen when he began making and selling miniature furniture. To finance his last year of college, he found summer work at a small furniture company. After graduation, he continued working at the same small furniture company in Greensboro, North Carolina building traditional and contemporary furniture. During that time, Steve began studying 17th century American and English furniture forms and construction techniques on his own to feed his growing interest in the subject. His study led him to making furniture directly from riven green wood, a technique common to that period. After 40 years of extensive study and building traditional furniture, his works have become steeped in classical design and proportions giving them a warmth and gracefulness that makes living with his pieces a pleasure. Born in Hingham, Massachusetts, Steve Golden has been living in Greensboro, North Carolina for almost 40 years.
